Global Modernization for 'Patriot'

Raytheon has inked a $235-million modernization contract for its Patriot Missile and Air Defence System which will be funded by the 14 nations that have the system in their inventories. This is the first of five annual, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity task order awards with a total contract ceiling of more than $2,3 billion.
The company will work on developing new methods to search, detect, track, discriminate, engage, and defeat a wide range of evolving threats including tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and military aircraft; improving Patriot's interoperability with higher echelon systems; developing training simulators; reducing the life-cycle costs and enhancing the system's ability to counter electronic countermeasures.
