Kongsberg to test Eelume unmanned subsea residency vehicle | Jane's 360: "Kongsberg is preparing for a month-long residency test on its Eelume remotely operated vehicle (ROV)/autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) hybrid.

The Eelume is a modular, flexible robot designed for inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) of subsea infrastructure. Although primarily designed for use in the offshore oil and gas industry, the vehicle could have military applications for mine countermeasures (MCM), submarine support, and subsea surveillance tasks, Kongsberg Subsea vice president Arnt-Helge Olsen told Jane's.

Comprising a series of joint, thruster, and payload modules, the vehicle is propelled by lateral undulation – moving like a snake – along with conventional forward thrusters mounted in the mid-section."
