Forget the S-500 or Su-57 PAK-FA. Russia's Military Has Big Plans for the Future.

Russia has started planning for the development of a series of next-generation weapons to follow-on to systems such as the Sukhoi Su-57 PAK-FA and the S-500 surface-to-air missile (SAM) battery. These new systems—which the Russian government has not named—will be developed under future advanced State Armament Program.

“An important and key issue on our agenda is to define the beginning of the creation of yet another advanced state armament program,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting of the Kremlin’s Military Industrial Commission . Putin said that Russia has to start planning for its future defense needs now as it completes developmental programs that were funded under the current State Armament Plan (GPV-2027). “It is important for us to move further and start planning today the future development and production of advanced weapons and equipment that will define the image of the Russian Armed Forces in the long-term, for the next few decades,” Putin said. Can’t Spend? Won’t Spend? 4 Lessons From NATO’s Bottom Lines

----------------------------------------------------------------

In the Future, the Army Will Have Super Weapons Like 'Iron Man' Suits and Liquid Body Armor

Image
The implications of this kind of technology are significant. While exoskeletons have been in development for several years now, the technology consistently confronts the challenge of finding ways to sustain mobile power sources to support and sustain its functionality. Furthermore, current use of batteries brings significant combat challenges due to difficulty recharging and the massive amount of weight involved in hauling them through combat. The Army is testing and prototyping self-generating “Ironman-like” soldier exoskeletons, designed to massively change combat missions by supporting soldier movement, generating electricity, powering weapons systems and substantially lowering the weight burden of what troops carry in war. Energy-harvesting technology can extend mission life for small units or dismounted soldiers on-patrol. The emerging concept, described by Army developers as a technical breakthrough is engineered, not so much for the near-term, but 10 to 20 years down the road. “Th…

Stolen sensitive military files sold on dark web

Image
Sensitive documents about US military drones and manuals describing how to handle insurgents have been offered for sale on the dark web. Cyber-security company Recorded Future said some of the data had been stolen from a US Air Force captain's computer. The cache includes maintenance guides for MQ-9 Reaper drones and many training manuals for troops deployed outside the US. Police are now trying to track down the hacker who stole the files. Known bug They are acting on evidence gathered by Recorded Future, which said its "engagement" with the hacker had helped it identify them and where they lived. The company's Andrei Barysevich also revealed the hacker had many more documents available than just the few they were publicly offering for sale. The drone files were stolen via a well-known bug on a router the captain used. He had failed to update the device, leaving it open to a "hijack" attack that then gave outsiders access to the network it connected to. I…

Image: FlightRadar Two leading manufacturers of remotely piloted aircraft systems are nearing the goal of certifying unmanned aerial systems (UAV) for operation in the same airspace with manned aircraft, thus removing a major barrier to entry for drones that restricted the operation of large drones over the populated areas in Europe, Canada, and the USA. Elbit Systems of Israel and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. are the two forerunners in this field, followed by IAI and Northrop Grumman.
