Russia’s Aerospace Force has received over 1,000 new and upgraded aircraft and helicopters since 2012, Aerospace Force Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Sergei Dronov said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda (or Red Star) newspaper.

According to him, the level of technical operability of military aircraft nearly doubled in the past six years.

"As for rearmament, more than 1,000 new and upgraded aircraft have been delivered," the general pointed out.

Dronov elaborated that the Aerospace Force had received new aircraft such as the Sukhoi Su-34, SU-35S and Su-30SM, as well as the Kamov Ka-52 combat helicopters. In addition, the Tupolev Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers are currently undergoing upgrading.

Dronov also said that the share of modern weapons and equipment in the Aerospace Force was 74%, while its pilot staffing exceeded 90%.
