Another Proof of Turkey’s Defense Industry Capabilities - iHLS: "Turkey continues to showcase the capabilities of its local defense industry, with the recent test-firing of a locally-made HİSAR-A short-range air-defense missile in the Anatolian province of Aksaray. HİSAR missiles are intended to protect military bases, ports, facilities and troops against air-based threats as well as to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces for a low- and medium-altitude air defense security system.

The HİSAR-A is powered by a dual-stage rocket motor, providing a maximum engagement range of 15 km. The HİSAR-series is analogous in purpose and capability to the Denel Umkhonto-series and Diehl BGT IRIS-T SL. Turkey will use the HİSAR-A/O SAM along with the Korkut self-propelled anti-air gun (SPAAG) system for low-level anti-air warfare (AAW) coverage, according to quwa.org.

The Turkish Defense Ministry said that the HİSAR missile project has been successfully continuing under the Defense Industry Undersecretariat (SSM) to address the needs of the Turkish Land Forces Command. The low-altitude HİSAR-A missile system will play an important role in Turkey’s air defense, said the statement." Read More
