The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said that Syrian air defences were able to shoot down Israeli stand-off missiles on 9 April.

The MoD released a statement to news agencies saying that two Israeli F-15 jets launched eight missiles at the T4 (Tiyas) Air Base from Lebanese territory between 0325 and 0353 h Moscow time (0025 and 0053 h GMT) that morning. It said that Syrian air defences destroyed five of the missiles, but three reached the western part of the airfield.
