KADEX 2018: Barys 6 breaks cover as KPE launches new systems

Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering (KPE) has unveiled the Barys 6 ahead of the opening of the KADEX defence exhibition in Astana on 23 May.
The new vehicle is a winterised variant of Paramount Group’s Mbombe 6, and is fitted with a 2A42 30 mm cannon in a turret taken from the BTR-82A.
While the Mbombe 6 has been exhibited before, this is the first time that the winterised Barys version has been shown. Paramount Group is hoping to win further orders for its armoured vehicles in Kazakhstan as the country undergoes a modernisation drive.

KPE is also exhibiting a new remote weapon station, the Sarbaz, which has been developed between KPE and Turkey’s Aselsan.
