Kazakhstan has placed a “new and substantial order” for Arlan mine-resistant, ambush protected (MRAP) vehicles, manufacturer Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering (KPE) announced during the 23-26 May Kazakhstan Defence Expo 2018 (KADEX 2018) exhibition in Astana.

The announcement comes after Kazakh Minister of the Defence and Aerospace Industry Beibut Atamkulov told local media on 14 May that the country had received 60 Arlans to date, with a further 30 vehicles expected.
KPE, which at KADEX 2018 displayed for the first time its own light mechanical turret fitted on an Arlan, said in a statement that it has started working on the new order, with further Arlan deliveries expected during 2018-19.
