Privately owned Turkish company Otokar is exhibiting its Akrep II (Scorpion), the country’s first electric armoured vehicle, at the 14th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) being held in Istanbul between 30 April and 3 May.

The Akrep II was unveiled during a press conference on 24 April at Otokar’s facilities in the northeastern province of Sakarya.
Otokar general manager Serdar Görgüç said the company had gained experience and know-how on electric vehicle technology for military applications through the Akrep II. “This will also be the first step that Turkey has taken in the development of electric, hybrid, and autonomous military vehicles,” he added.
