SCR and Everis Aerospace, Defense and Security (everis ADS) have tested the capabilities of their captive RPAS system ASTER-T during a demonstration for the Information and Localization Artillery Group (GAIL) II / 63 of the Army.
The system has collaborated in an operation to search for non-detonated ammunition in El Teleno Maneuver Field, in León.
During the exercise the ASTER-T successfully carried out a demonstration flight that included automatic take-off, climb over 60 meters, stay in that height, visualization and tracking of targets, and landing, also automatically.
This is the first demonstration of ASTER-T in Spain, which however has already been exported to a foreign country. The system is the result of a technological alliance between everis ADS and the Dronetools company.
System chracteristics
The ASTER-T is a captive hexacopter that offers fast and uninterrupted air coverage in large spaces thanks to its constant power. The system is connected to a power source on the ground, which guarantees unlimited autonomy.
In addition, it consists of a fully autonomous autopilot and adapted for 'captive' missions and an on-board emergency battery that allows its recovery and safe descent in the event of any eventuality. The ASTER-T reaches a height of up to 100 meters, mounts a thermal and visible-spectrum camera with a continuous zoom of up to 40 magnifications and incorporates communications and download video and data securely through the cable.
Among its numerous applications include crisis monitoring, strengthening public safety, rapid deployment of emergency radio-communications, asset protection and surveillance, both in the private and civil.
ASTER-T at FEINDEF
The ASTER-T will be one of the innovations that everis ADS will show in its stand (B10) during the first edition of FEINDEF, which starts next May 29 in Madrid. In this sense, the UAV Area of the company will have a prominent role in the sample.
