Finland tests Protolab Protected Multi-Purpose Vehicle

The Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) are conducting operational testing of the Protolab Protected Multi-Purpose Vehicle (PMPV) armoured personnel carrier (APC), its manufacturer, Protolab, announced on 25 June.

The FDF has ordered four vehicles for testing purposes, the company's business development director, Juha Moisio, told Jane's on 27 June. “These vehicles are currently undergoing field testing as part of work being carried out for the FDF to modernise its armoured vehicle fleet,” he said.

The PMPVs are being delivered under a contract signed in 2018, and Moisio expects deliveries of all four to be completed this summer. He added that the first vehicle, which was delivered in the autumn of 2018, has completed testing to verify its NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 4569 mine and ballistic missile protection levels.
