Ammunition will be able to intercept aerodynamic and ballistic targets at ranges from 5 to 380 km. 40N6 will become the so-called long-range arm of the Russian air defense. Experts expect that the missile will replenish the arsenal of S-500 Prometheus systems. The characteristics of the latest 40N6 anti-aircraft guided missile (SAM) have become known. As stated in the multimedia presentation of the Almaz-Antey concern, the missile will be capable of shooting down targets at ranges from 5 to 380 km. The average velocity of the ammunition will be 1190 m / s, the starting weight is 1893 kg.
Preparing 40N6 for launch will take no more than 15 seconds. 40N6 is designed to intercept modern bombers (including those made by stealth technology), fighters, AWACS aircraft (long-range radar detection), strategic drones, high-precision missiles, including cruise and hypersonic. Also, missiles can destroy ballistic missiles flying at a speed of 4800 m / s.
